Here Are Ash Wednesday Services in White Lake and Highland

Churches of varying denominations throughout White Lake and Highland will hold special services Wednesday to mark the beginning of Lent.

Ash Wednesday, celebrated Feb. 13 this year, marks the start of the season of Lent for many Christian denominations.  Lent, which is traditionally observed by fasting, repentance and spiritual discipline, refers to the 40 days prior to Easter, excluding Sundays. During some Ash Wednesday services, the priest, minister, or layperson will use ashes to make the sign of the cross on worshipers' foreheads. This action is meant to symbolize a person's repentance to God.  In White Lake and Highland you can find services at the following churches: Did we miss your church service? Know of a Fish Fry in White Lake or Highland? Post It on Patch

Let White Lake-Highland Patch readers know when your school, church or organization is hosting an event.

Lent is just around the corner, and with that comes the season of Friday fish fries. Many churches and organizations host them, and the White Lake-Highland Patch events calendar is a great place to share all that information with the community. If you're helping to organize one of these fish fries—or if you just want to spread the word about your favorite one—here's how to post it on Patch's calendar. First things first: Make sure you're signed into White Lake-Highland Patch. If you're not a user, you can sign up with your name and email address here. Now you're ready to add your event to Patch's calendar.
