More Than $79,000 Worth of Jewelry Stolen from Howell Ultra Diamonds, Suspected Drunken Driver Causes Serious Accident in Highland

Nearly $80,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from the Howell Ultra Diamonds store in the Tanger Outlet Mall on Dec. 8. at 1:16 a.m. Police said an unknown object was shoved through the tempered glass door and then used to pull outward. Inside the showroom, many of the glass display cases were broken with merchandise thrown around, according to the report. Police found wet footprints on dry cement, ripped cloth and a Marlboro cigarette butt near the door and blood on and in some of the broken display cases, the report said.
