Kids involved with the video told a local radio host their parents will no longer let them talk to the press.
In an email to White Lake-Highland Patch, Milford Principal Kevin McKenna said the suspensions given to several Milford High School student likely will not affect their college plans. "Students are suspended everyday (in the district) for a variety of reasons," McKenna said. "It doesn't show up on their 'academic' record but a discipline record is created. If a college requests the discipline record, it's supplied, but the majority of universities and colleges do not initially request the discipline record." McKenna also confirmed the students involved in the video were given either 3-day or 5-day out of school suspensions depending on which video they were involved in. Earlier this week, Kim Root, Huron Valley Schools director of …

Some members of the community say the school is sending mixed messages about what is appropriate.
The community is still buzzing about the Milford High School students who were suspended after they filmed a "Harlem Shake" video in the school and posted it to YouTube. Today Fox 2 News is reporting that some people think the school has a double standard. A second YouTube video filmed at Milford High School, which you can watch to the right, shows four male students wearing only boxers dancing at the school's Mr. Milford pageant. Some people told Fox News that the school is sending mixed messages about what is appropriate on school grounds. "They shouldn't have let them do it in the Mr. Milford pageant if it's a big deal," Sean Alfano told Fox News. Others say they see the difference in the videos in the eyes of the school. "The …

Several Milford High School students are suspended after shooting videos and posting them to YouTube.
A group of Milford High School students have been suspended for making their own version of the "Harlem Shake" video and posting it to YouTube. While the Oakland Press reports at least 30 students were suspended for five days, Patch could not confirm the information. Kim Root, Huron Valley Schools director of communications and community relations, confirmed that students were suspended but could not be specific on the number of students nor the specific types of discipline that were received. According to Root, there were actually two videos that were shot at the school and posted to YouTube, but one of the videos has been removed. "The students in question violated several areas of our student code of conduct and with increased use of …

Cheaper by the Dozen shows are this Friday and Saturday at Milford High School in Highland.
The following was written by Kate Phillips. When 16-year-old Alexis Stefanick of White Lake asked her dad to audition with her for a local staging of Cheaper by the Dozen, he hesitated. He hadn't been in a play since his own school days. But he decided to go for it, because he wanted to spend time with his daughter before she finishes high school and leaves home. "There may not be many more chances left," explained Bob Stefanick of White Lake. As it turns out, that's the guiding force behind the actions of the father that Stefanick plays -- Frank Gilbreth, an overly strict dad of 12 living in 1924. Stefanick is sympathetic to the father he portrays, who has a heart condition that he knows will not allow him to see his children grow up. "He…

I suppose I understand the punishments, but I have to admit something. That is hands down the best Harlem shake I've seen, and it might just be the funniest thing I've seen in my whole life. The first time I watched I was laughing so hard that it hurt and tears of hilariousness were falling from my eyes. My belly is still sore from my uncontrollable chuckling. Superman you are my hero. If you …   more ›
