The Metro Detroit area has always loved a great film's release and the Christmas 2012 season should again prove fruitful. From Trenton to Fenton, film audiences in recent years have adored Meet the Fockers, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and National Treasure: Book of Secrets, among others. POLL: Which Best Picture Nominee Do You Hope Wins an Oscar Sunday?

Let's see if the favorite among readers winds up with the top Academy Award.

Favorite film opinions are as diverse as moviegoers, and this week is an ideal time to share your choice for which nominee deserves the Best Picture statue this weekend. We're interested in taste, not predictions. So click the movie you think should win, not necessarily which will snag the final Academy Award presented Sunday night. The Oscars show, hosted by Bill Crystal for a ninth time, starts at 8:30 p.m. on ABC after 90 minutes of red carpet arrival scenes outside the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. By 11:30 p.m. or so, optimistically speaking, we'll see whether the favorite film among Michigan Patch readers also is the industry's choice.
