Want to get your Leo's Coney Island fix in Waterford? You're in luck, the Waterford Leo's Coney Island opens at the end of February.
White Lake Leo's Coney Island Owner Jim Christopher is partnering with Rick Shebib, an Air Force fighter pilot, to open a new Leo's Coney Island in Waterford. According to Christopher, patrons can expect the same great food and service along with some new amenities. "We are using newer technology with our hot water," he said. "In addition, all the servers will take your order at the table and send it instantly to the kitchen via iPad Minis. This should increase efficiency by 20 percent and eliminate missed questions like what type of cheese, or what kind of toast. Rugrat Resale and Consignment opened in November 2012 in White Lake. Since its opening, store owner Katrina Sadowski said business has been great.
For nearly three months business has been growing at Rugrat Resale and Consignment in White Lake. The new children's consignment business, that opened in November 2012, was started by Highland mother Katrina Sadowski and her family. Sadowski said she got tired of having to drive everywhere to find decently priced items for her young daughter. "I really saw a need for this type of store in White Lake," Sadowski said. "I was having to drive to places like Novi to find a decent consignment store so I thought why not start one here." Earlier in 2012, Flowers of the Lakes vacated it's storefront off M-59 and moved across the street, opening up the perfect space for Sadowski. Chubby Charlies Pizza in Commerce Township is now open.
Anthony Nestorovski, 19, of White Lake has opened his second pizza franchise, Chubby Charlies Pizza in Commerce. The store is Nestorovski's second, his first store is located in Royal Oak. According to a press release, Nestorovski and his parents have operated several national franchised pizza locations in Michigan and Indiana - and Nestorovski has been making pizzas since a young age. "Anthony decided to continue his families love for the pizza business after his parents sold all their locations due to his father’s health issue," the release states. Three empty store fronts will soon become home to White Lake Township's newest businesses ― a bakery, a beauty supply store and a baby consignment store. One Sweet Bakery and GG's Beauty Supply will open near Siam Fusion on Highland Road. Rugrat Resale and Consignment will open in the White Lake Plaza near Trifles cake store on Highland Road. Under new management, the apartment complex off M-59 has been transformed into a family-friendly community aimed at giving residents a slice of pure Michigan.
When new owners Bryan Muscat, 28, and Jake Wiles, 27, first saw Lakeshore Hilltop Apartments, they saw opportunity. "It was the perfect property," Muscat said. "It had everything you'd want in a nice community and had a real "up north" type feel. There was a lot of potential, it just needed some cleaning up. And cleaning up is what they did when they purchased the property in May. Driving down M-59 you'll notice the new entrance sign and white picket fence along the perimeter of the property. Residents and members of the Highland-White Lake Business Association gather at the new Flowers of the Lake location Wednesday to celebrate the store's opening.
It was standing room only inside the new Flowers of the Lakes location Wednesday morning as residents and members of the local business association gathered for the store's ribbon cutting ceremony. Flowers of the Lakes moved into the new location, across from Village Lakes Plaza at 10790 Highland Road, in early June. Owner Orv Borg, who's been in the flower business for 23 years, said the response has been overwhelming. "We've had a really positive response to the new location," Borg said.
