An 8-month-old was found unresponsive Thursday morning in Highland.
Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation were called to a home in Highland Township after an 8-month-old was found not breathing Thursday at 9:40 a.m. According to the report, the baby was transferred to Huron Valley Hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead. The report states that the Medical Examiner’s office was contacted and will be conducting an autopsy. There is no other information being released at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

Ross Austin Dimercurio, 18, of Highland and Devin Bradley Newell, 18, of Milford were arraigned Friday on a total of 20 felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from larcenies in both Highland and White Lake. Dimercurio has 11 charges ranging from larceny of a firearm, to felong larceny from vehicle. Newell has nine charges including possession of a controlled substance and felony breaking and entering of a vehicle with intent. Each was given a $50,000 cash bond and both remain in Oakland County Jail. The pair were arrested by Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies in Highland last week after an investigation led deputies to the suspects homes. According to the dealership, the incident was an oversight.
Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies with the Highland Substation were patrolling the lots at local dealerships throughout the township March 5 when they found something interesting. According to the report, one deputy found full sets of keys sitting in the doors of at least seven vehicles. The report states that the deputy contacted the dealership to let them know that the keys were with the vehicles, the owner came to the lot, removed the keys and told police it was an oversight. "We've been going around the lots because we've had a rash of tires and rims being taken from cars at dealerships," Det. Jim Bowie. "Luckily our deputy was alert and saw this before anything bad could happen."

An 18-year-old from Highland and an 18-year-old from Milford were arrested Wednesday for their roles in 11 larcenies from autos in the White Lake-Highland area. Detective Jim Bowie with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation said the pair were arrested in the parking lot of a local pawn shop following an investigation into a series of car break-ins in the area. The larcenies are connected to the ones reported in White Lake March 4 and March 6. Bowie said deputies received a tip from a local business employee who called deputies after two men came to the business and threw out a stack of CD's and a woman's purse. Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation were called to a business March 3 on the 1600 block of Milford Road in Highland after an alarm went off. According to the report, when deputies arrived at the business, S&G Coin and Jewelry, they found the glass on one of the business's doors was shattered. A K-9 unit was called in, and the dog was able to track a scent from the store to to an adjacent parking lot before it was lost. An employee with the business arrived at the scene and went through the store. That employee stated that nothing appeared to missing at that time. The incident remains under investigation.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office, including the substation in Highland, reported several vehicle accidents Tuesday and Wednesday.
More than four inches of wet, heavy snow fell on the White Lake-Highland area Tuesday night, and resulted in several accidents along roadways throughout the area and Oakland County. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said their department, which covers 22 communities including Highland, responded to a total of 91 accidents. The accidents all occurred between 3 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday. The sheriff's office said there were a total of: The weather service forecasts a 60 percent chance of snow Thursday, with accumulations of less than a half-inch. Friday there's a chance of flurries and a high of 27 degrees.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation responded to an alarm just after midnight, Feb. 24, at a local party store. According to the report, when police arrived the clerk at the store on the 1000 block of Milford Road told police a person entered the store and grabbed a number of lottery tickets. The suspect then ran from the store. A K-9 unit was called in to track the suspect, and tracked the persons trail for 45 minutes before losing the track, the report states. Evidence was collected at the scene, and the incident remains under investigation. Detective James Bowie said the Highland Substation has taken at least a report a day in the last week for identity thefts in the area.
A rash of identity thefts has hit Highland Township according to detectives with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation. "It seems like we've taken at least a report a day," Detective James Bowie said. "It's really been unusual. Most have been thefts of credit card numbers." Bowie said the Highland residents have called after someone has used their credit card numbers in store at places such as the White Lake Meijer, Kroger and Walmart, the Walmart in Hartland and the Meijer in Hartland to buy hundreds of dollars worth of items. "The victims still have the cards, so we're trying to figure out how the person or persons got the numbers and were able to purchase items in the stores without having the actual card," Bowie said…

Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies are looking to find the people responsible for the thefts of tires and rims off of used vehicles from area dealerships. Det. Jim Bowie said Szott Dodge, Lafontaine Mazda and Jay Chevrolet all had at least one used car in their lot jacked up with the new tire and rims missing. The incidents happened sometime between Friday and Monday. Bowie said deputies arrived on the scene and found tracks leading to Hickory Ridge Road from Jay Chevrolet. "It appears they loaded things into a vehicle and left the scene," he said. The incidents remain under investigation.

Two Highland men that deputies say are responsible for taking thousands of dollars worth of items from home in Livingston County, Highland and White Lake were arraigned Jan. 25 and Jan. 30. According to Det. Jim Bowie with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation, Michael Robert Brown, 21 was arraigned Jan. 25 on two counts of felony home invasion, first degree; one count of breaking and entering; and one count of larceny from auto. Brown's bond was set at $250,000 cash. Brown was also arraigned on November 2012 on similar charges by White Lake Police for larcenies in White Lake.
