Deputies Interrupt Break-In at Highland Church

The following information was supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, Highland substation. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department's Highland Substation were called to Highland Hills Baptist Church after a witness told dispatch he saw a man enter the church through a window. According to the report, the witness said he watched the man go along the outside of the church testing windows before finding one that could be opened. The man then opened the window and entered the church, the report states. When deputies arrived on the scene the man was still in the building, and a woman and 5-year-old child were in a car in the parking lot. The report states that the woman initially told police she and her family were there to worship, but then changed her story and said they were there to party. A member of the church …

Highland Home Broken Into, Jewelry Taken

The following information was supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, Highland substation. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

A home on the 2000 block of Baird Court was broken into sometime between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on July 15. According to a report filed with the Oakland County Sheriff's deputies at the Highland substation, the homeowner told police he had left the home unlocked. The report states that when the homeowner returned to his home, he noticed his front door was open. More than $500 worth of items were missing from the home, including jewelry and two debit cards. The incident remains under investigation. A camera bag containing lenses and a camera was taken from a vehicle parked on the 4000 block of Pommore. According to the report, the owner last used the camera a month ago and kept it in his car. He told police that he noticed it missing July 24…

Police: Kids Throwing Rocks From Overpass Damage Cars

The following information was supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, Highland substation. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

Deputies were called to the overpass at M-59 and Milford Road June 30 at 8:42 p.m. after two drivers reported that children were throwing items off the overpass onto the cars below. According to the report, the children were throwing stones and sticks. At least two cars were damaged, and pulled over at the scene when police arrived. One driver told police, according to the report, that he chased the kids who ran south along the railroad tracks before he lost sight of them. The roof of a Ford Escape was damaged, along with the passenger-side windshield of a Buick. Deputies searched the area, but could not find the children responsible. Two Teens Arrested Following Destruction of Property in Highland

The following information was supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, Highland substation. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

Two 19-year-old men were arrested June 19 after police say they damaged a number of cars and the front window of a bank in Highland Township. According to the report filed with Oakland County Sheriff's Highland substation, the two were riding in a vehicle with two women sometime between June 18 and June 19 when they started to argue with the woman. Det. James Bowie said the woman kicked the men out of the car near Wardlow on M-59. Both men, the report states, were intoxicated. The report states the two men entered the LaFontaine used car lot and broke into several vehicles causing damage. As the continued down M-59 they came to Chase Bank at the corner of M-59 and Duck Lake. The report states the two threw a rock through the front window, …
