Accused I-96 Shooter to Get Another Psychiatric Evaluation

The Oakland County Circuit Court case has been adjourned until the evaluation is conducted.

An independent psychiatric evaluation will be conducted on the man accused of a string of 24 shootings along I-96 in October, according to an article in the Observer & Eccentric. The article states that Raulie Wayne Casteel's attorney is arranging the evaluation, postponing Thursday's pre-trial hearing until the evaluation is complete. Court will reconvene on May 30. According to the Observer & Eccentric, a state forensic psychological exam conducted earlier revealed that Casteel was competent to stand trial but suffers from delusional disorder. Casteel, 43, of Wixom has been charged with 60 felonies in Oakland County, including multiple counts of assault with intent to commit murder, in connection with the shootings that happened in Wixom…

I-96 Shooting Suspect Will Go To Trial

Raulie Casteel waived his right to a preliminary exam in the Oakland County case.

The man accused of a string of 24 shootings along I-96 in October waived his right to a preliminary exam Friday, sending the case to trial. Raulie Casteel, 43, of Wixom told the judge in Novi District Court Friday that he would waive his right to a hearing to determine if prosecutors have enough evidence in the Oakland County case, according to WILX. The judge has sent the case over to Oakland Circuit Court for trial, according to The Detroit News. Casteel has been charged with 60 felonies in Oakland County, including multiple counts of assault with intent to commit murder, in connection with the shootings that happened in Wixom and Commerce. I-96 Shooting Suspect Pleads Not Guilty to Felony Terrorism Charges

The Michigan Attorney General announced charges filed against 43-year old Raulie Casteel of Wixom Dec. 21.

The 43-year-old Wixom man accused of shooting at cars along the I-96 corridor has entered a not guilty plea to additional terrorism charges in Livingston County's 53rd District Court in Howell, according to WDIV-TV, Channel 4.  In addition to the terrorism charge, Raulie Casteel pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with intent to murder and felony firearm in Livingston County's 53rd District Court on Friday. The first two charges are punishable by up to life in prison, while the firearm charges range from punishments of 2 to 5 years in prison.
