We Ask, He Answers: Patch Interviews Jolly Ol' St. Nick

How does Santa enter homes without chimneys? What happens if a reindeer gets sick? Find out here.

White Lake-Highland Patch scored an exclusive interview with Santa at his family's cabin in White Lake. Taking a small break before gearing up for Monday night's deliveries, Santa sat down with Local Editor Brooke Tajer to answer some of the most asked questions by kids. Erin: What do you do if there is a fire in the fireplace? Santa: That's pretty easy. I've been given a magic key. There are a lot of boys and girls who don't have a fireplace. This magic key allows me to go in the front door of those home on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day only. Erin: Have you even been bitten by a dog? Santa: No, because Christmas Magic takes over. When I get there the dogs are very friendly. As a matter of fact, most dogs help me. They come right up …

Where's Santa? Track Him Live from White Lake and Highland

The North American Aerospace Defense Command has a website that now offers a Santa tracker mobile app to follow the jolly man's magical flight.

They sent him their wish lists, sat on his lap, and left cookies and milk for his arrival. Now the only thing left for children in White Lake and Highland to do is track Santa's progress as he delivers gifts around the world on Christmas Eve. Thanks to the folks behind the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) website, families worldwide can now follow Santa's Christmas journey in real time. The tradition started in 1955 after an advertisement for Sears Roebuck & Co. misprinted a telephone number for a special "Santa hotline." Instead of reaching Kris Kringle, the number put kids through to the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Commander-in-Chief’s operations, according to a description on the NORAD Tracks Santa Facebook …

Highland Welcomes The Holidays

Santa arrives in Highland Township at a festive community tree lighting event Monday evening.

Highland Township residents enjoyed wet but warm weather for the town's annual Tree Lighting and Sing Along Event in Veteran's Park Monday evening. Emcee Mike Maher of the DDA and Highland Feed introduced the evening's entertainers: Ms. Lapratt's honor choir from Spring Mills Elementary School and Ms. Heeber's 4th grade class from Highland Elementary School. The kids wore festive red and white Santa hats and were surrounded by enthusiastic friends and family as they sang Christmas favorites. Santa arrived just as the children finished singing a spirited rendition of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." He used his special Christmas magic and the help of the children shouting "Merry Christmas" to fill the town tree with colorful twinkling …
