Tractor Supply Company Coming to White Lake Township

The new business will occupy the current Blue Duck bar property.

White Lake Township will soon be getting a Tractor Supply Company (TSC). The new business will be going in at the current Blue Duck bar location at 10150 Highland Rd. "We did a store not too long ago in Lyon Township," TSC property owner Chris Kettler said. "Geographically, based on customers in the area, it's the next logical place for a tractor supply." Last week, the White Lake Township Planning Commission approved TSC's final site plan, as well as a special land use amendment for their outdoor storage component.  Township Planning Director Sean O'Neil said that the next step is to approve the construction plan, which is done at the staff level.  Kettler said the company doesn't yet own the property, but it is under a contract to …

Family Owned White Lake Grocery Going Out of Business

The sign in front of Mr. Ron's Market reads, "Store Closing, We Give Up."

In about three or four weeks, Mr. Ron's Market on Round Lake Road will close its doors for good.  The signs in front of the business read, "Sale," and "Store Closing, We Give Up." 61-year-old Ron Hibbs, owner of the grocery store, said he cannot compete with all of the big chains opening on M-59.  "White Lake is growing, there's a lot of growth on 59," he said. "The big guys are getting bigger. The biggest Kroger store in the state of Michigan is coming 2.4 miles to my south. It's just a lot of the same." Hibbs bought the store in 1998, but started working there in 1977.  "I've been here 36 years, the biggest part of my adult life," he said. "I've met thousands of wonderful people. White Lake is a great place to live and work, but it's …

So proud of my dad!!! This ends a long era in our family but I'm excited to see what lies ahead. I was literally raised in that store, running the aisles and snagging donuts. Nobody makes a donut like dad makes a donut!!! I'm proud of you dad!! Now take some time and REST! Dr Kelly Hibbs Milano   more ›

Your Fit Club Bigger and Better in New Location

The White Lake gym, which opened in 2010 at Fisk Corners, renovated the space that used to be home to Blockbuster and AT&T near Walmart.

In just three weeks of reopening in its new location, Your Fit Club  has enjoyed an increase in membership, according to gym owner Neal Stulberg. The 24-hour White Lake fitness club relocated from its location at Fisk Corners to 9140 Highland Rd., in the former Blockbuster/AT&T building near Walmart. "We wanted to offer more to our members," Stulberg said. "We were able to move into a building with a much larger space. Now we're able to offer group exercise, a juice and smoothie bar, daycare - all the features that were missing at the other one." Stulberg said more free weight, strength and cardio equipment has been added to the gym as well, but he attributes the membership growth to the visibility in the new location. "There's some large…

Children's Consignment Store Makes Its Home in White Lake

Rugrat Resale and Consignment opened in November 2012 in White Lake. Since its opening, store owner Katrina Sadowski said business has been great.

For nearly three months business has been growing at Rugrat Resale and Consignment in White Lake. The new children's consignment business, that opened in November 2012, was started by Highland mother Katrina Sadowski and her family. Sadowski said she got tired of having to drive everywhere to find decently priced items for her young daughter. "I really saw a need for this type of store in White Lake," Sadowski said. "I was having to drive to places like Novi to find a decent consignment store so I thought why not start one here." Earlier in 2012, Flowers of the Lakes vacated it's storefront off M-59 and moved across the street, opening up the perfect space for Sadowski. "It was really important to me to take all the little things I liked …
