Wallet Taken then Returned Without Money at Local Store

The following information was supplied by White Lake Township Police. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

A wallet and $100 was taken while two women were shopping at Walmart Dec. 4. According to a report filed with the White Lake Police Department, the wallet belonged so a woman with specials needs. She had been shopping at the store with her caregiver. The wallet was turned in to the service desk at Walmart, and employees paged the woman to return it. When the woman got her wallet back, the $100 she had in the wallet was gone. There are no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation. Police were called to Walmart Dec. 11 after a woman reported damage to her car. According to the report, an unknown person scratched up her Mustang while it was parked in the parking lot. Man Suffers Knife Wound in Dispute Over Woman

A 22-year-old White Lake resident is facing felony charges after police say he attacked another man in White Lake. According to the report filed with the White Lake Police Department, the man walked out of his apartment at Hillview Village and found his 23-year-old wife speaking with another man Dec. 9 at 11 p.m. The report stated the other man, a 30-year-old from Waterford, was the wife's boyfriend. The White Lake resident attacked the Waterford man with a pocket knife, and the man received injuries to his hand, according to the report. A neighbor witnessed the fight and intervened, the report states, and the cops were called. The White Lake man was arrested and charged with assaut with a dangerous weapon - a four-year felony. Police: Teen Pulls Knife on Store Clerk, Demands Money

A 14-year-old runaway from Waterford Township is likely facing armed robbery charges after White Lake Police say the teen attempted to rob a local dollar store. According to the report, the incident happened Oct. 29 at 7:55 p.m. at the Dollar Tree on Cooley Lake Road. The report states that the teen entered the store wearing a mask from the movie Scream. He went to the back of the store, grabbed a kitchen knife from the display and walked to the front of the store. When he reached the checkout, the report states that the teen pointed the knife at the cashier and demanded money. Police: 3 White Lake Men Beaten, Suspects at Large

White Lake Police were called to Cedarbrook Estates after a witness reported seeing an assault and battery. The incident happen at 9:30 p.m. Oct. 24. According to the report, three teens, ages 16 and 14, were walking down the street when two males, both 23, approached them. The report states that one of the 23-year-olds accused one of the 16-year-olds of being inappropriate with his niece. The report states that the two 23-year-olds then began to punch and kick the 16-year-old. At that time, the 14-year-old and second 16-year-old jumped in to defend their friend. Man Arrested After Allegedly Breaking Into Car in White Lake

Cory Pittaway, 32, was arraigned on charges of larceny from a vehicle Oct. 11 after White Lake police say he was caught breaking into a car in White Lake. According to the report, Pittaway was going through a vehicle at a home on Audubon when the owner saw him and called police. The caller was able to give a full description of Pittaway and the car he drove off in. While driving down M-59, Police Chief Ed Harris heard the call go out with the description of the vehicle. The report states that Harris saw the vehicle leaving the Home Depot parking lot. Another officer was called to the scene and the car was stopped. Pittaway was positively identified by the homeowner who initially saw him, and was arrested on the scene by the officer and …

Two Home Invasions Reported in White Lake

The following information was supplied by White Lake Township Police. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

At least two vacant homes were broken into in White Lake Township, according to police reports. The first, a bank-owned home on the 8000 block of Newport, was broken into sometime between July 23 and Sept. 27. The report states that an unknown person or group entered the home and stripped the kitchen and bathrooms of the home of all fixtures. The bank estimates the value to be approximately $19,500. There are no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation, the report indicated. A second bank owned home was broken into sometime between Sept. 18 and Sept. 25, according to police. The report states someone entered the home on Elizabeth Lake Road by breaking out a front window. Police: Teens Found Shooting Cars With Paint Ball Guns

Two 16-year-olds from Waterford and a 15-year-old from White Lake were arrested by White Lake Police Sept. 15 at 11:55 p.m. on Elizabeth Lake Road after three drivers reported their cars being damaged by paint balls while driving down the road. According to the report, the drivers called police and when an officer arrived on the scene, he entered the wooded area across from Houghton Elementary School, the report states, and witnessed three teens shooting paint balls at cars using paintball guns. The officer reported that he ordered the teens to stay where they were, but they took off running. The officer, the report states, continue to yell at the teens and they eventually all stopped. Men Marked by Blue Dye Arrested for Ski Lodge Burglary

White Lake Township Police responded Sep. 5 at 8:19 a.m. to a report of burglary and forced entry at the Chair Lift Operations Building of the Alpine Valley Ski Lodge, 6775 East Highland Road, according to a police report. The suspects stole boots, flashlights, helmets, snowboards and other ski supplies, the report said. They also stole a garbage can with which to transport the stolen items. At some point during the burglary, the blue dye used to marks the runs on the trails was spilled near the break-in, according to the report, and there were two sets of boot prints in the dye. Police also found tracks left by the stolen garbage can, which led to the White Lake View Motel, the report said. Police followed the tracks to a room and found a…

Pet Goat Killed By Stray Dogs in White Lake

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

A White Lake family's pet goat, Norman, was killed by two stray dogs according to a report filed with the White Lake Police Department. The owners told police that they came home at noon on Aug. 24 to feed the pets and saw that two large dogs had gotten into the fenced area where Norman the goat stays. One of the owners told police she saw the dogs start to bite at Norman before they attacked him, grabbing his neck, the report states. When officers arrived to the home on the 1000 block of Hill Road they found the two dogs hovering over the goat, and the goat was deceased - the report states. Oakland County Animal Control was called to the scene and both dogs were taken to the county's facilities. Neither dog had tags or collars. Animal …

1959 Ford Fairlane Catches Fire on Teggerdine

A 1959 Ford Fairlane caught fire while being driven down Teggerdine near M-59 at 9 p.m. Aug. 22. A report filed with the White Lake Police states that the driver told police he heard a small explosion but didn't notice anything strange with the car. According to the report, another vehicle pulled up beside the Ford and that driver told the man that his car was on fire. The man pulled over and called 911. While on the phone with 911 another car stopped. The driver of that car had bottles of water in his vehicle. Together, they poured the water over the fire and were able to put it out before the fire department arrived. A 55-year-old reported that he lost his wallet at Home Depot. It was later found in tact, but missing more than $600 in …
