Man Arrested on Retail Fraud Charge Outside Walmart

The following information was supplied by White Lake Township Police. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

A 27-year-old Waterford resident was arrested Jan. 12 after White Lake Police say he attempted to take a $500 computer from Walmart in White Lake. According to the report, the man pushed the computer out the door of the store in a cart without attempting to pay for the item. Employees called police and confronted the man outside the store, the report states. Before police arrived, the man jumped into a car in the parking lot and sped off. The report states that an officer was on patrol near the store and stopped the vehicle as it exited the Walmart parking lot. The driver told police he did not know that the passenger had tried to taken anything from the store, he was released on the scene. The passenger was positively identified by store …

Police Looking For Man Wanted in Walmart Theft

The following information was supplied by White Lake Township Police. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

White Lake Police were called to Walmart on Sept. 22, following the theft of electronics from the store. According to the report, the incident happened at 1:50 a.m. The report states an unknown man entered the store and grabbed a shopping cart. The man entered the electronics section of the store and loaded the cart with approximately $1,400 worth of computers. The report states the man then pushed the cart out of the store without paying for the items, entered an unknown vehicle and left the parking lot. The incident is under investigation. Man Drives Across 4 Lanes of M-59, Hits Guardrail

Police arrested a 25-year-old Waterford man Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated after White Lake Police say he drove across M-59 at Ormond Road in White Lake and crashed into a guardrail at 2 a.m. Sept. 1 According to the report, several witness called police after watching a 2010 Jeep traveling southbound on Ormond go through the stop light at M-59, travel across westbound M-59, through the median and across eastbound M-59 before crashing into a guardrail. No other cars were hit, and only the 25-year-old driver was in the vehicle. Witnesses stopped at the car and helped the driver out of the car. Teens Arrested At Lakeland Football Game

Two 14-year-olds from Highland Township were taken into custody by White Lake Police Aug. 30 during the Lakeland High School football game. According to the police report, school staff witnessed the teens inside the high school. When the staff members approached the teens, they ran off, the report stated. Later that evening the two children were seen inside the stadium at the football game. Staff approached the two and began to question them about why they were in the building earlier, according to police. During the questioning one of the kids attempted to run off and was stopped by some nearby adults, police said. 2 Officers Injured During Arrest in White Lake

A White Lake Police officer will be off work for one week after sustaining a hand injury during an arrest Aug. 19. Another officer sustained minor injuries in the same incident. According to the report, officers were called to a home off Fisk Road, in White Lake Mobile Home Park, at 11 p.m. for a reported assault. When police arrived they found a 22-year-old White Lake man and a 23-year-old White Lake female. The report states that the female told police the man had struck her during an altercation. Police conducted their investigation and attempted to arrest the man for assault. The man, according to the report, started to resist arrest and fought with the arresting office. Car Tire Slashed in Walmart Parking Lot

White Lake Police were called to Walmart on Aug. 16 after a woman exited the store to find a tire on her car slashed. According to the report, the woman told police that she had inadvertently cut off a man driving a black SUV prior to entering the Walmart parking lot. She said the man was very upset with her and he might have slashed the tire while she was in the store. Police are following up on the lead. Anyone with information is asked to call 248-698-4400. The incident remains under investigation. A 31-year-old man from Linden is recovering after police say he was beat up outside the White Lake Motel. Police Called After Toddler Left Unattended in Cedarbrook

A neighbor in Cedarbrook Estates called police Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. after watching a two-year-old sit alone on a porch for nearly 20 minutes, a report filed with the White Lake Police Department states. According to the report, the neighbor kept an eye on the child while watching to see if the parent was in the area. After 20 minutes, he called police. Lt. Don Nankervis said when police responded, an officer placed the child in a safe area then proceeded to locate the child's parent. The report states the officer pounded on the home's door for a few minutes, but received no answer. When the officer turned the knob, he found the door was unlocked. Nankervis said the officer then entered the home because it was possible the child's parent was …

Police Looking For Man Who Took Beer from 7-Eleven

Police are looking for the public's help to identify a man wanted for taking beer from 7-Eleven in White Lake. According to the police report, the man - who police say might be in his 20's - is seen on security footage entering the store on July 28 at 3 a.m., walking around and then exiting with an 18-pack of beer. He did not pay for the beer, the report states. The man is described as approximately 5'8-inches tall, with a heavy muscular build. The report states he has brown hair, and he was wearing a Henrik Zetterberg Red Wings T-shirt with black shorts and black shoes. Man Turns Himself In Following Accident

A 27-year-old White Lake resident turned himself in to White Lake Police following a property damage accident on July 21. According to the report, the driver left the scene of an accident on Buckingham and drove down Pontiac Lake Road to Hitchcock where police say he parked his car and left the area on foot while police arrived at the scene. The report states that the man later turned himself in to White Lake Police at the station, where he was arrested and released on a $100 bond. The man was issued a citation for failing to stop and I.D. at an accident. A home on the 9000 block of David Lane had its front door damaged following an attempted break-in. The report states an unknown person tried to kick in the front door, damaging the door, …

Dog Owner Ticketed After Run In with Bicyclist

A 73-year-old White Lake resident called police following a run-in with a neighborhood dog on July 18. According to the report filed with White Lake Police, the man was riding his bike in Cedar Shores neighborhood when a medium-sized white dog began to chase him and bark at him. A neighbor, the report states, began to call the dog to get him to stop. The dog eventually returned home. Police responded to the home of the dog's owner and tickted the owner for having a dog on the loose. The owner told police, the report states, that the he has an invisible fence for the dog, but the dog has found a way to bypass it. The bicyclist told police this is not the first time he's been chased by the dog. A car parked at a home on Oxbow Lake Road was …
