White Lake Treasurer, and township sexton, Jay Brendel's bid to do gravel work at White Lake Cemetery and Oxbow Cemetery was approved at Tuesday night's regular board meeting. The bid was approved unanimously for about $5,000 at White Lake Cemetery, and about $3,800 for Oxbow Cemetery. Brendel abstained from the vote. "I've been the township sexton for more than 25 years at zero cost to the township residents," Brendel said. The White Lake Township Board of Trustees continues to wrestle with the potential funding shortfall in the township's sewer fund. Township Supervisor Greg Baroni says the township has enough money for the 2012 debt repayment, but that the board needs to make some decisions so the fund will continue to bring in enough money to pay back the debt owed from the township’s sewer project that started in the 1990s. The White Lake Township Board of Trustees met Tuesday night to discuss several items, including the 2013-2018 Capital Improvement Plan. The plan, a mandate from the state, is a "wish list" of projects identified by departments in the township for future consideration. The board's acceptance of the plan does not mean the projects will be completed.
