Hi Mark, this story is from a week ago when we got all of that snow. I am assuming you were brought here by the weekly newsletter that, unfortunately, pulls in the top story for the week (which was this one). Sometimes they aren't timely or applicable anymore. Snow, Freezing Rain Close Area Schools

How will you enjoy the snow day?

After a night of snow and freezing rain, area schools are closed for the day. As of 5:30 a.m., the following schools officially canceled classes due to wintry conditions: Holly Public Schools, Clarkston Schools, Huron Valley Schools, Waterford Schools and Walled Lake Schools. A Winter Weather Advisory remained in effect until 6 a.m. Monday after several inches of snow fell overnight and then turned into freezing rain in areas. The transition to regular rain is expected to happen around sunrise, according to the National Weather Service. Expect 2-7 Inches of Snow Wednesday in White Lake and Highland

Snow will start falling in the afternoon and continue into the evening.

Last year's wimpy winter will not be a repeat for Michigan, if this week is any indication. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area, and is predicting up to seven inches of snowfall on Wednesday. Flurries could begin overnight, turning into a steady snowfall by the afternoon. The chance of snow, according to NWS, is 100 percent. Temperatures will drop into the high 20s by 10 a.m., and winds will pick up throughout the day, gusting as high as 26 miles per hour. Two to four inches of snow is …

POLL: Are You Glad or Sad Winter is Wimpy So Far?

Halfway through the season, we've had little snowfall and averaged 30 degrees.

Show of hands: Who went out without gloves this week or rode with a car window open? You're not alone. January just went out like a lamb, a two-months-early calendar twist that's unusual here. So is an average Metro Detroit winter temperature of 30.7 degrees, six weeks into the season, and snowfall barely above nine inches – compared to nearly 18 inches in January 2011. "It is surprising," National Weather Service meteorologist said this week from the monitoring station at White Lake. It recorded a Tuesday reading of 56 degrees and forecasts high temperatures of 40-44 degrees through Monday. In Rochester, unseasonal weather won’t stop a Snow Daze benefit for the Animal Care Network this Saturday afternoon. "We plan to host our annual Snow …

I'm loving it so far. I almost bought a snowmobile at the beginning of winter. I'm glad I held off. The snowblower is still sitting there unused. We were able to do some outdoor work at the cottage that I thought I'd have to wait for spring to do. I've tilled up a portion of my backyard twice to get it ready for new grass seed. This is the first time in my fifty some years that I can remember a …   more ›
