Grab and Go Kids Planner: The Great Outdoors, Plays, Poetry and Art

Here is a list of things for the whole family to do this weekend.

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best upcoming family activities or events. You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance. 1. GPS SCAVENGER HUNT AND ORIENTEERING Where/when: Indian Springs Metropark; 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday (events run simultaneously). Why go: Learn how to find geocaches with a GPS unit and how to get around in the great outdoors (includes a lesson in map reading and orienteering compass use). Grab and Go Kids Planner: Maple Sugaring, Kids’ Art and Mini Golf

Here are our best bets for things to do with the kids this weekend.

Whether your interest lies in the sweet history of maple sugaring, the art of “emerging masters,” or you want to take a swing at mini golf, or hear The Verve Pipe's concert... for kids, there are plenty of family-friendly events this weekend. Check it out: 1. Here are our best bets for things to do with the kids this weekend.

Whether you want to dance with your kids, enjoy a great story or learn how to skate, we have plenty of family-friendly events for you. Check out what's going on this weekend: BABY PLAY GROUP Where/when: White Lake Township Library, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday. Why go: A morning of music, songs, finger plays, book and toys. Pricing: Free. MOTHER/SON DANCE Where/when: Heritage Elementary School, 7-9 p.m. Saturday. Why go: A fun event for mothers and sons. There will be dancing, pizza and raffles.
