White Lake to Hold Community Visioning Session

Want to have a say in the future of White Lake's parks, take the online survey or attend the visioning session Jan .16.

White Lake Township Community Development Department invites residents and business owners to share their ideas during a visioning session to he held Wednesday, January 16 from 7-9 p.m. at the Dublin Community Center, 685 Union Lake Road, White Lake, 48383. This session is being held to gain residents input into future park and recreation planning projects, and policy in the Township. The results of the Visioning session will be used to help the White Lake Township Parks and Recreation Committee update its 5-year Recreation Plan. The Recreation Plan is being written to the specifications of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), which will allow White Lake Township to apply for grant funding through the Trust Fund Program. …

White Lake Police to Purchase 3 New Patrol Vehicles

The department will now have 3 Ford Interceptors in its fleet, as the traditional Crown Victoria has been discontinued by Ford. The Interceptors will cost $23,355 per vehicle.

The White Lake Township Board of Trustees met Tuesday to discuss several items including the purchase of new police vehicles, proposed ballot language for the November general election and the redevelopment of the Gin Mill Party Store. The White Lake Police Department was given the green light to purchase three new patrol vehicles for a total cost of $81,558. Chief Ed Harris said the department has the money in its budget, and purchases 3-4 new cars each year. "We put about 80,000 miles on a patrol vehicle in a two-year span," Harris said. "At that point things start to break down and the repair cost begins to add up. That's why we try to replace them as they hit that 80,000 mile mark." Think you have what it takes? Build your best sled for Indian Springs Metropark's first Cardboard Classic.

The following is a press release from Huron-Clinton Metroparks. What can you create with a few pieces of cardboard, some tape, paint and glue? Make the fastest and most imaginative two-person sled to compete in the Cardboard Classic at Indian Springs Metropark on Sunday, Feb. 12. Children and adults are challenged to create a two-person sled to race down the park’s sledding hill. Fun prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place winners for fastest and most creative sleds. Registration and creative judging begins at 11 a.m.; races start at 12:15 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held immediately following the final race, where fun prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners for the fastest and most creative …
