Who: Jack Prey School: Milford High School, junior Accomplishment: Prey, a vocalist for Milford's Center Stage, has been chosen to represent MHS in the state's Honors Choir Program. The Honors Choir is sponsored by the Michigan School Vocal Music Association (MSVMA). Key to awesomeness: Prey auditioned for the regional Honors Choir that was held at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor. At regionals, he auditioned for the state Honors Choir, according to Cindie Audia who nominated him as Whiz Kid. Audia, with SCN Communications, said approximately 270 students from the state were accepted, and the top 80 were selected to go to the all-state competition May 10-12. Four wrestlers have been nominated as Patch Whiz Kids of the Week for their efforts on the mat.
Who: Brandon Calma, Chase Kelley, Kyle Babin and Tanner Graham School: Lakeland Accomplishment: All earned podium spots at the Lakeland Invitational Key to Awesomeness: Lakeland Wrestling held their annual invitational tournament on Jan. 7. Thanks to the efforts of head coach, Matt Bishop, the contest attracts more teams and better competition each year. With fifteen teams present on Saturday, it truly took a complete team effort between the coaches, varsity and JV wrestlers and the parents to make the day run smoothly. Lakeland was proud to send four wrestlers to the podium this year. Taking first place in the 112 pound division was senior captain Brandon Calma, placing second at 171 was junior captain Chase Kelley, 3rd place at 125 …

This week's honoree had a stunning 42 saves and led his team to victory against the division leader.
Who: Trevor Kalinowski School: Junior, Lakeland High School Accomplishment: Kalinowski made 42 saves last Wednesday against division leader Waterford Mott for a 2-0 shutout win. Key to Awesomeness: The Lakeland Eagles shut out Waterford Mott 2-0 Wednesday night. Junior goalie Trevor Kalinowski was outstanding in goal leading the Eagles to the win. Kalinowski said the key to the win was “to keep my head in the game, work hard and honestly play out of my head. The defense moved guys out and sacrificed their bodies which made my job a lot easier,” he said.
