From SPD:
"Skokie goes all the way to Lehigh Avenue along the south side of Oakton Street, thus covering the truck parking lot at the Old Menard's parking lot."
Thus, I stand corrected. It was not a typo and the report was accurate in the first place. I hope that further explains things.

First, thank you for the comment. If the truck was stolen in Morton Grove, there would have been no report by SPD - it would have been with the MGPD. SPD does not carry/produce crime reports committed in Morton Grove. My guess is it was probably a typo on their end.
Thank you for the catch, I'll update the body of the article to reflect your comment and see if I can pinpoint the street address later today at the station.

We provide the race of the offender(s) when it is relevant to the story. It has nothing to do with "feelings," and if you've read our previous coverage you will see that when an accurate description is given, we do indeed provide that information.
We will not, however, simply state that a black offender, for example, was seen breaking into a house. Or an Asian woman stole a bottle of perfume. That isn't enough information for anyone to go off on. In regards to the home burglary, the victim was unable to provide a race, according to the report.
In short, we have always provided race when it is relevant to the story. Thank you for the comments.
